CFEB and new national money guidance service launch

Today saw the launch of the new Consumer Financial Education Body, established by the Financial Services Authority, and the national roll out of the Moneymadeclear money guidance service.

The Financial Services act was granted Royal Assent on Thursday 8th April 2010. This required the FSA to establish CFEB - with a primary remit to enhance the public's understanding and knowledge of financiall matters (including the UK financial system), and improve their ability to manage their own financial affairs.

Essentially this means CFEB will take forward the financial capability agenda. Chris Pond, currently Director of Financial Capability, will take on the role of Senior Adviser at the FSA. He will provide expert advice and support to CFEB and the new Board when it is established, as well as to the FSA.

Tony Hobman has been appointed as the Chief Executive of CFEB and will join in May 2010. Tony is currently Chief Executive of the Pensions Regulator and has held a number of senior appointments within the financial services arena.

As of today, CFEB will come fully operational and all staff currently undertaking financial capability work for the FSA will transfer to CFEB Limited.

Our address for written correspondence will be CFEB Limited, 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, E14 5HS.

Our switchboard will be 0207 943 0500 - and all direct dials will change. Your contact should have informed you of the new number but, if not, voicemails have been amended to provide this information.
