Evidence the programme works for employees1:

 

  • 97% felt the seminar had been useful.
  • 97% said the seminar was a “valuable part of the employer benefit package.”
  • 76% said the seminars had increased their knowledge around money issues.
  • 77% said they had a better understanding of their money situation.
  • 79% said the seminar had increased their confidence in relation to their money matters.
  • 75% felt the seminar gave them better skills to deal with their money.
  • Of those who, before the seminar felt, their ability to ‘keep track of their money’ was average to poor, 93% felt their ability to do this was better after the seminar.
  • Of those who, before the seminar felt their ability to ‘find financial information’ was average to poor, 97% felt their ability to do this was better after the seminar.
  • As a result of attending the seminar 87% said they would do something to improve their financial arrangements in relation to bills, credit, a large unexpected expense, providing for a drop in income, and/or their retirement.
  • 18% said they had taken out a pension through their employer and a further 12% intended to do so. In addition to these new pension provisions, 12% had increased their pension contributions and a further 15% intended to increase their pension contributions.

How much work did the programme create for you?

42 of 44 employers surveyed answered some work or hardly any work – 1 answered a great deal of work and 1 answered no work.

But overwhelmingly it was not more work than had been anticipated.

And 31 of 44 employers felt it is a good benefit for staff.

Overall 42 of 44 felt very or fairly satisfied with the programme with positive feedback from staff.

1 These figures are taken from three evaluation surveys carried out July 2007 to June 2008. The first survey was conducted with 13,425 employees immediately after attending a seminar and the second survey consisted of 718 follow up interviews six months later and the third survey was conducted with 44 employers who participated in the Workplace Seminar Programme.
